As Organ Donation Week 2026 closes this evening, just a couple more words to add…and repeat…

Thank you.

Thank you to all who told their stories so bravely and honestly this week.

Thank you to our guest bloggers, for the incredible work you do, and your kindness in telling us about it.

Thank you to those who found the blogs, who not only liked a photo but read the blogs to the end.

Thank you to those who “liked”, commented, and reposted blogs for this week, from Live Loudly Donate Proudly and from many other groups and individuals promoting organ donation.

Thank you to those who spoke to the journalists and braved the publicity of the TV and radio.

Thank you to those who cycled for the cause (even going nowhere in Grand Central Station) peddling their stories.

Thank you to those who climbed the peaks of various nations and waved a flag for organ donation.

Thank you to those who lit up their council buildings, shopping malls, universities, castles, cathedrals, hospitals and homes in shining pink.

Thank you to those who painted, sang, wrote poems, poured their creativity into stimulating conversations that may save lives.

Thank you to those who wore pink to school or work,  ran coffee mornings, baked cakes, gave out leaflets.

Thank you to those who taught organ donation awareness classes in schools, opened opportunities for young people to engage, explore, lead.

Thank you to those who decided this week to sign the register as potential organ donors.

Thank you to those who have let their families and friends know of their decision.

Thank you to live donors, and to donor families.

Thank you to the medical teams, and administration and logistics teams who make transplants possible.

Thank you to recipients, of all ages, for your amazing spirit, your courage, your resilience and determination.

Thank you to parents and siblings, families and friends, in the neverending circle of love and support.

Thank you to NHS Blood and Transplant Donor Family Care Service, helping pass on letters of gratitude and communacating between recipients and donor families.

Thank you to all those support groups and charities, who inform, educate, encourage, and are there when needed.

Thank you to all who have made the space, given time, listened and supported, making this week so valuable.

Thank you to all those not mentioned here but just as caught in the whole web of the transplant world.

Thank you, in the name of the more than 8,690 people on the Active Transplant List, waiting for a call…

Thank you, in the name of the thousands and thousands of people who are alive today in Britain and Ireland because of the kindness of donors.

Thank you, in the name of those whose precious lives were lengthened and extra time enjoyed with all those they love, thank you.

And again, to the donors…
